WooCommerce development
WooCommerce development from start to finish: new stores, custom features and plugins, subscriptions and memberships, checkout and performance work, and fixes for stores that have stopped behaving.
The Problem
A WooCommerce store usually starts simple and then collects plugins: one for subscriptions, one for memberships, one for abandoned carts, one for shipping rules. Each one works alone; together they slow the store down and break in ways nobody can trace.
When something goes wrong, such as a renewal that doesn't charge, a checkout that fails or products showing in the wrong order, it costs sales, and the store owner hears about it from customers first.
What I Do
For new stores, I set up products, checkout, payments, shipping and email around how you actually sell, and keep the plugin list short.
Where a plugin doesn't do what you need, I write a small custom one that does one job, instead of adding a large suite.
For existing stores, I trace problems to their cause in the logs, scheduled actions and gateway records before changing anything, and make fixes through WooCommerce's own APIs so orders, subscriptions and emails stay consistent.
Deliverables
- A new store, or changes to your current one, built and tested on staging first.
- Custom features or plugins for anything off-the-shelf plugins can't do cleanly.
- Subscriptions and memberships set up or repaired, including renewals, payment retries and cancellations.
- Checkout, email and performance checks before launch.
- Handover notes for your team covering what was built and what to watch.
Related work
- Adriana Cowdin: Fixed failing subscription renewals and blocked cancellations for an author and coach's WooCommerce store, and built a custom abandoned cart recovery plugin.
- WooCommerce Subscription Date Manager Pro: An open-source plugin that moves the next payment date on many WooCommerce subscriptions at once, with filters to skip the ones that should not change.
- Heritage Hills: Membership, email and store work for the nonprofit that protects Oklahoma City's Heritage Hills historic district, plus an MCP server so AI tools can manage the site.
Questions
Can you build a new WooCommerce store from scratch?
Yes. I set up the store around how you sell, including products, variations, checkout, payments, shipping, taxes and customer email, and keep it on a short, maintained plugin list.
Can you fix our existing store instead of rebuilding it?
Usually, yes. Most problems come from configuration, plugin conflicts or scheduled tasks that stopped running, not from WooCommerce itself. I find the cause first and tell you what it will take to fix.
Why are our subscriptions not renewing?
Most often the scheduled actions that trigger renewals aren't running, or a security or caching layer is rejecting the requests. I check which renewals were actually paid at the gateway before retrying anything, so nobody is charged twice.
Can you build a custom feature WooCommerce doesn't have?
Yes. I've built custom plugins for abandoned cart recovery and for moving payment dates on many subscriptions at once. A small plugin that does one job is usually safer than a large suite.
Do you also work on Shopify?
Yes. If you're weighing WooCommerce against Shopify, I can tell you which fits your products, your team and the plugins you depend on.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the store and what needs doing. After a short look, I send a scope and a quote before any work starts.

Get a quote
Every project is different, so pricing comes after I understand yours. Here's how it goes:
- Tell me what you need. Email me what you want built or what's broken. Links, screenshots and the platform you're on help. I reply to every enquiry within one business day.
- Get a scope and a quote. I reply with questions, then a written scope and a quote. Nothing starts until you agree to it.
- Review on staging. I build or fix on a staging copy, and you review before anything changes on your live site or app.
- Launch and handover. We go live together and you get handover notes. Any bug in work I delivered, reported within 30 days of launch, is fixed free. I can keep looking after it after that.
